● Advanced Composite Wrap Technology
Niger Delta Engineering Limited delivers certified, non-intrusive composite wrap repair systems for pipelines, vessels, and structural assets — restoring full operating pressure without shutdown.
● Service Overview
Composite wrap repair is an engineered, non-intrusive method of restoring structural integrity to degraded, corroded, or damaged pipelines and pressure vessels. A high-strength fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) sleeve is applied directly over the damaged zone while the asset remains in full operation — eliminating costly shutdowns and production deferral.
At Niger Delta Engineering Limited, we deploy industry-leading composite systems backed by rigorous engineering analysis, certified by international standards, and executed by our highly trained field teams across onshore and offshore Niger Delta environments.
● How It Works
A rigorous, standards-based workflow from initial assessment to final acceptance — executed with precision by NDEL's certified technicians.
Comprehensive inspection using UT, radiography, and fitness-for-service (FFS) analysis. Our engineers size the defect, determine remaining wall thickness, and design the repair specification per ASME PCC-2 / ISO 24817.
Abrasive blasting or mechanical preparation to achieve SA 2.5 / SSPC-SP6 cleanliness standards. Contamination control, surface profiling, and adhesion primer application ensure maximum laminate bond strength.
Qualified technicians apply the engineered composite laminate — carbon fibre, glass fibre, or hybrid systems — using wet lay-up or pre-impregnated tape techniques. Layer count and overlap are per the engineering package.
Post-application cure monitoring, hardness testing, and bond inspection (pull-off tests, holiday detection). Full photographic and dimensional records maintained throughout for traceability.
Hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure testing of the repaired zone as required. NDE of the completed wrap using pulse-echo UT and acoustic emission monitoring confirms structural adequacy.
Delivery of a complete repair dossier: engineering calculations, material traceability, inspection records, test certificates, and as-built drawings — meeting IOC and regulatory handover requirements.
● Scope of Application
Our composite repair capability spans the full spectrum of upstream, midstream, and downstream infrastructure across the Niger Delta region.
Corrosion damage, mechanical dents, and through-wall pitting on crude export and flow lines — repaired live without depressurisation.
High-pressure gas lines with external corrosion or mechanical damage — composite wraps restore full MAOP conformance safely.
Shell and nozzle repairs on separators, FWKO vessels, and storage tanks using engineered composite sleeves and filament winding.
Offshore risers, J-tube sections, and splash-zone structures repaired with marine-grade composite systems and cathodic protection integration.
In-plant piping systems carrying hydrocarbons, water injection, or process chemicals — repairs executed with zero process interruption.
Corroded or cracked structural members on offshore platforms and onshore facilities strengthened with carbon fibre composite wrapping.
● Technology
Cost-effective, high-strength solution for moderate pressure and temperature service. Excellent chemical resistance and flexibility for complex geometries.
Ultra-high tensile strength system for maximum MAOP restoration and structural reinforcement. Preferred for critical high-pressure gas service and large-diameter pipe.
Combination fibre architectures tailored for impact resistance, vibration damping, and mixed loading environments.
Steel-reinforced composite sleeve repairs for high-temperature / high-pressure service and axial load transfer applications where polymer-only systems are insufficient.
Rapid deployment pre-cured composite bandage systems for emergency live-line repair — full strength achieved within hours of installation.
● Why Composite Repair?
● Certifications & Standards
All NDEL composite repair designs, material qualifications, and installation procedures are governed by the leading international standards.
Article 4.1 composite repair design methodology. Engineering calculations to full ASME standard.
Qualification, design, installation, and inspection per international petroleum industry standard.
Compressive properties of rigid plastics. Composite laminate mechanical characterisation.
NDEL's quality management system ensures consistent, traceable, and auditable repair execution.
● Why Choose NDEL
Deep knowledge of Niger Delta operating conditions — swamp terrain, tropical climate, and the regulatory landscape of DPR/NUPRC compliance.
Pre-positioned materials and trained crews across the Niger Delta for 24–48 hour emergency mobilisation to any location.
Every repair is backed by full engineering calculations, fitness-for-service analysis, and a signed-off repair package — not just field improvisation.
Over 500 composite wrap repairs successfully completed for major IOCs and indigenous E&P companies across onshore, swamp, and offshore locations.
Zero LTI culture with rigorous HSSE management. Our cold-work composite process inherently eliminates hot-work risk and permit complications.
Repair documentation packages prepared to meet NUPRC/DPR reporting requirements and IOC internal integrity management standards.
"Our composite repair teams operate where others cannot — swamp, offshore, and in live-process environments where production continuity is non-negotiable."
● Client Feedback
NDEL's team completed a critical 20-inch crude line repair in a remote swamp location within 72 hours of notification — full engineering pack and pressure test certification included. Exceptional work.
The composite repair held under full operating pressure. The ASME PCC-2 documentation was accepted by our asset integrity team without any queries. Highly professional.
We had a significant external corrosion defect on a high-pressure gas riser. NDEL's carbon fibre wrap allowed us to maintain full throughput while the long-term spool replacement was planned. Outstanding result.
